Hi, I’m Julia, and I’m an alcoholic.
When the pandemic hit, everything shut down—including my home group. I thought, How am I going to stay sober without meetings? Then someone texted me a Zoom link.
I clicked it out of desperation—and thank God I did.
I saw faces I knew. I heard the same language of recovery. I laughed, cried, and even shared. Suddenly, AA was in my living room. I could go to meetings in London, New York, and back home in Santa Fe—all in the same day.
What I learned is that connection doesn’t need to be physical to be powerful. What we do in AA is spiritual. And that spirit carried through the screen.
If you’re sober on Zoom, you’re sober in AA. You’re part of this.
And if you’re struggling with distance or isolation—just show up. The miracle still happens.
Thanks for letting me share.
