Maria – Step 4 – What it was like for me

Alright, listen up, chico, ’cause the Fourth step, it’s like shining a light on all the dark corners of your soul, you know? It’s about taking a fearless inventory of yourself, facing up to all the stuff you’ve been running from, all the mistakes you’ve made.

For me, it was like opening up a dusty old trunk and pulling out all the skeletons, you know? I had to take a good, hard look at myself, at the good, the bad, and the ugly, and let me tell you, it wasn’t pretty.

But it was necessary, chico, porque you can’t fix what you don’t acknowledge, you know? I had to rip off the band-aid, painful at first, but a relief once it was done. I had to admit my wrongs, my shortcomings, my flaws, and let me tell you, it was like a weight lifted off my shoulders.

And you know what, chico? Once I did that, once I faced up to all the stuff I’d been running from, it was like a weight lifted off my shoulders. It was like finally seeing myself for who I truly was, flaws and all, and accepting it.

So yeah, that’s how I worked my Fourth step, chico, by taking a fearless inventory of myself, facing up to all the stuff I’d been running from. And let me tell you, it was the first step toward real change, toward real healing.
