Many Rooms, One Fellowship – Post 1 of 10

Not All Meetings Feel the Same (And That’s the Point)

If you’ve been to more than a handful of AA meetings, you’ve probably noticed something:
they don’t all feel alike.

Some are quiet and reflective.
Some are loud and full of laughter.
Some follow a structure down to the minute.
Others feel more like a conversation among friends.

This isn’t a flaw in AA—it’s one of its strengths.

As it says in Alcoholics Anonymous:

“Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends upon A.A. unity.” (p. 562)

Unity doesn’t mean sameness. It means a shared purpose.

If you walk into a meeting and think, “This isn’t for me,” that’s okay. It just means that room may not be your fit.

If you’re new, try a few different meetings. Your room is out there.
