Hi, I’m Angela, and I’m an alcoholic.
People ask me why I still go to meetings after all these years. The answer is simple: I never want to forget what it was like—and I never want to go back there.
AA isn’t something I graduate from. It’s a design for living. The meetings keep me connected. The Steps keep me grounded. And the people? They save my life—over and over again.
I come back because someone showed up for me when I was new, and now I get to do the same.
I come back because service fills the hole that drinking never could.
And I come back because, one day at a time, this program has given me a life beyond anything I imagined.
If you’re wondering whether you’ll need AA long-term—maybe not. But I’ll tell you this: I don’t need it today like I used to… I need it even more.
Thanks for letting me share.
